For decades, Stitchers Garden was a destination for quilters, sewists, and fabric shoppers in the Brentwood and Greater Nashville area. Founded in 1988, the store built a loyal following thanks to its extensive fabric selection, knowledgeable staff, classes, and commitment to our local quilting community.
Unfortunately, Stitchers Garden permanently closed in early 2026, after 38 years (!) in business. According to their website on March 1, 2026, the final inventory was sold or donated, and the Brentwood location officially closed its doors.
What Happened to Stitchers Garden?
For many years, Stitchers Garden was a familiar name in Tennessee’s quilting and sewing community. What started as a small quilting and sewing shop grew into one of the region’s most recognized independent fabric stores, serving generations of quilters, sewists, and fabric enthusiasts with a wide selection of materials, notions, classes, and project inspiration.
Over time, the store built a loyal customer base not only in the local area but also among online shoppers who appreciated its carefully curated inventory and commitment to the quilting community. For many customers, Stitchers Garden became more than just a place to buy fabric—it was a trusted resource for creative projects and a gathering place for fellow makers.
In late 2025, the company announced that it would be closing permanently. The final day for in-store shopping was January 31, 2026, while online orders continued for a short period afterward. Online shopping remained active through February 15, 2026, allowing customers one last opportunity to purchase remaining inventory before operations officially came to an end. While the store is no longer in business, many former Stitchers Garden customers continue searching for trusted sources for quilting fabric, sewing supplies, patterns, and project materials.

Sewing Machines, Service, Repairs, and Supplies
For many quilters and sewists, a sewing machine is just as important as the fabric and supplies that go into a project. Whether it’s a newer computerized model, a dependable everyday machine, or a vintage machine that’s been passed down through generations, keeping it running properly can make all the difference.
At Edison Vacuum, sewing machine and serger service and repair is a core part of what we do. Our head technician brings more than 30 years of experience in the sewing and serger repair industry, providing service for a wide range of makes and models—from early 1900s machines to many of the machines found in stores today.
We understand that older machines often have both practical and sentimental value. Some are family heirlooms that’ve been sewing for decades, others are vintage finds that really deserve a second life. Our team has the experience, tools, and knowledge to diagnose problems, perform maintenance, and help keep these machines running as smoothly as possible.
In addition to repair and service, we also offer sewing machines for sale along with fabric and thread and other sewing essentials. Whether you’re looking to maintain a machine you already own, replace an aging machine, or stock up on supplies for your next project, Edison Vacuum is here to help support your sewing and quilting journey!
